Our commitment

The safety and wellbeing of every child and vulnerable adult who learns with us comes first. This policy explains how we keep our online classes safe.

Our teachers

  • Every teacher passes a qualifications check, a recitation and knowledge test, and an interview before teaching.
  • Every teacher completes training on online teaching and this Safeguarding Policy, and agrees to our teacher code of conduct.
  • Female teachers are available for girls on request.

How classes run

  • Classes take place on Zoom only.
  • Parents and guardians are welcome to attend any class, at any time.
  • We encourage children to take classes in a shared or open space at home.
  • Classes are not recorded unless the parent agrees.

Communication

  • All communication about a child's classes goes through the parent or guardian, by WhatsApp or email.
  • Teachers do not contact children privately, do not connect with them on social media, and do not meet them outside scheduled classes.

Teacher code of conduct

  • Use respectful, kind, and appropriate language at all times.
  • Dress modestly and teach from a quiet, appropriate setting.
  • Never use physical or verbal punishment, shouting, or humiliation.
  • Never ask a child for personal information, photos, or contact details.
  • Never accept gifts or payments directly from students or families.

Reporting a concern

  • If you have any concern about a child's safety or a teacher's behavior, please contact us right away by email at support@arabyplus.net with the subject "Safeguarding", or on WhatsApp at +1 (315) 820-2014.
  • We respond to every safeguarding concern within 24 hours. While we review a concern, we may pause the teacher's classes.
  • If we believe a child is at risk of harm, we will contact the relevant authorities.

Review

We review this policy every year, and whenever needed.
